Terms of use
Effective
October 27 update: Added the optional Waitlist form and its privacy choice.
What these terms cover
These terms describe permitted use of litil.ai, published by LiTiL Labs (“LiTiL,” “we,” or “us”). They cover the website and its public demonstrations. A separate agreement or release license governs any product, service or material supplied under that agreement or license. Questions: aaron [at] litil [dot] ai.
We publish research, software, model releases, demonstrations and notes about AI and legal work. Some of it is experimental or unfinished. Read the description on the page to understand what exists, what we tested and what we still hope to build.
Research results depend on the task, data, model and test conditions described on the page. We don’t promise the same performance on your work. Check those conditions before deciding what a score tells you.
Legal work still requires judgment
The website, demonstrations and downloadable materials provide information and tools. They do not provide legal advice for your circumstances. Visiting, downloading something or contacting us does not by itself create an attorney-client relationship or engage anyone to represent you.
AI can invent facts and citations, overlook a provision, or change a sentence’s meaning while improving its punctuation. Check the sources, instructions and output before relying on it. A writing critique or detector score does not establish who wrote a passage or whether anyone did something wrong.
Do not send confidential client material, passwords or other sensitive information through a general inquiry. If a project needs confidential information, its scope and handling arrangements belong in that project’s agreement.
Reading, quoting and using the work
You may browse the site, share links and download materials we make available for that purpose. Please identify LiTiL and link to the source when quoting our work. Do not present an edited passage or result as our original, or imply that LiTiL endorses you or your product.
Code, models, datasets, skills and other releases may have their own licenses and third-party notices. Those terms govern those materials. These website terms don’t replace those licenses or take away permissions they grant. Making a download free doesn’t put it in the public domain. Check the license for the particular release you use.
For the LiTiL-authored Slop Detector, Anti Slop and Slop Grenade instructions in our button-preview downloads, we permit use, copying and adaptation for personal or internal business work. This permission covers use within your own organization; it does not authorize redistribution or resale of the instruction files. Sharing the download link is welcome. It does not extend someone else’s license or authorize use of LiTiL’s name to imply endorsement. If we release a version with its own license, that license governs that version.
LiTiL and third-party names, logos and artwork remain subject to their owners’ rights. Nothing here prohibits fair use, lawful criticism or another use permitted by applicable law.
Downloads and outside services
A downloaded skill gives instructions to an AI assistant. You still need an application to run it. The download supplies no device driver or AI subscription, and we can’t promise that every assistant will follow it correctly. Review the instructions and permissions before using it. Choose a suitable service and make sure you have the right to submit the information you give it.
Using a skill in another application is subject to that application’s terms, settings and charges. An optional Pangram check, where available through your setup, is a separate service interaction. The preview includes no working Pangram integration, and downloading it does not authorize sending your writing to Pangram.
Links to GitHub, Hugging Face, NVIDIA, signup services and other sites take you to services with their own terms. NVIDIA Inception membership does not mean NVIDIA guarantees our products or research.
Use the site without breaking it
Do not interfere with the site’s operation, send malware or spam, impersonate someone, submit information you are not entitled to share, bypass access controls, or try to obtain nonpublic information without permission.
Ordinary browsing, search indexing, linking, and uses permitted by a release license or applicable law remain allowed. We may limit requests or block access to protect the site and its visitors.
Availability and responsibility
We may update, replace or stop offering parts of this free website. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, continuing support for a demonstration, or that every page or output will be complete, current or error-free.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the website and its demonstrations are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or noninfringement. Separate release licenses and agreements govern the materials and services they cover.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, LiTiL is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of this free website, such as lost profits or lost business opportunities. This limitation does not apply to fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or liability that applicable law does not allow us to exclude or limit. Nothing in these terms takes away a mandatory consumer right.
Changes, privacy and questions
We will post changes here with a new effective date and identify material changes. Changes apply prospectively; they do not rewrite a separate agreement or revoke rights already granted under a release license. If a feature needs a separate agreement, we will present it when you use that feature.
